SLOW POP UPS

China and the wider Asia retail landscape is shifting toward longer-term, lower-risk experimentation. The “slow pop-up” has emerged as a strategic format, extending beyond short-term activations into immersive retail spaces operating over one to six months. Positioned between traditional pop-ups and permanent stores, they allow brands to test markets with greater depth, consistency, and commercial intent.

Newground supports the development and execution of slow pop-up stores across Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Taiwan. Leveraging established relationships with key malls, retail operators, and local partners, we provide a streamlined pathway from concept to physical presence. This includes location sourcing, commercial negotiation, spatial design direction, merchandising strategy, and on-the-ground operational support.

Alongside this, our experience developing the Brand Outpost, a more permanent shop-in-shop retail model, informs a hybrid approach, where slow pop-ups can evolve into longer-term placements. The focus is not just visibility, but building sustained brand traction, customer engagement, and measurable retail performance in complex and competitive markets.
